Director Uwe Boll retired as a filmmaker in 2016, turning his attention to his restaurant business in Vancouver, but now he’s making headlines again, threatening to sue Warner Bros. for their upcoming Rampage movie, starring Dwayne Johnson. Despite Warner Bros.’ Rampage movie being based on an arcade video game that debuted in 1985, Boll revealed first on Twitter, and then on his official website, that he is exploring his options about filing a lawsuit against Warner Bros. for, “using his brand Rampage as the title for the upcoming motion picture starring Dwayne Johnson, also known as the Rock.” Here’s the full statement from Uwe Boll’s website below.
“We are living now in a world where Independent Movies are dead and the big players only are making all the money. That they then use developed brands and ideas from established series such as my Rampage films in order to make even more money is unfair but typical. The new Rampage movie will shrink my brand and my revenues I can make in the future with my Rampage movies. It also confuses the audience! I want that Warners change the title, especially because the new movie has nothing to do with a Rampage and looks more like Jumanji 2 and is one of those typical feel good, popcorn bulls–t movies that the studios use to brainwash America even more! All these kind of movies including Transformers, Avengers are helping the military industrial complex in America to win and have retards like Trump be American President who would say that the earth is flat as soon they think they can benefit from this!”
Whether or not Boll actually files a lawsuit remains to be seen, but if he does, it seems unlikely he’ll have a legal leg to stand on. Warner Bros.’ Rampage is clearly based on the original video game of the same name, where players control one of three massive creatures who destroy cities around the world. This movie adaptation stars Dwayne Johnson as a primatologist named Davis Okoye, whose longtime friend George the ape is transformed into a giant monster, as he tries to stop him, and the other mutated animals, from destroying the world.
Uwe Boll’s first Rampage movie that debuted in 2009 stars Brendan Fletcher as a vengeful man named Bill Williamson, who builds a full-body suit of armor out of Kevlar, and goes on a killing rampage. Fletcher returned to star in the 2014 sequel Rampage: Capital Punishment and Boll’s final film, 2016’s Rampage: President Down. None of those movies received a theatrical release in the United States, going straight to DVD.
Boll, in his typical volatile fashion, also took to social media to lash out at his “haters,” telling them to “eat a fat d–k” in one tweet, where he refused to accept that the Warner Bros. movie is based on the 1985 video game, while also encouraging his followers to share his “press release” and stating that anyone who rips off the director will, “go to the tribunals.”
He even started a poll asking what he should change the Rampage title to when he wins the supposed lawsuit he plans on filing against Warner Bros. (the winning entry was, “F–k You: Give Your Money”), while adding that Boll and the fictional character Bill Williamson would destroy The Rock in and out of the ring. He even told his followers to go to their theater on Rampage‘s opening weekend, and, “drink a lot of warm milk before hand, then VOMIT all over the ticket counter & all kiosks so NO ONE can buy a ticket! Do it before every fake Rampage showtime.” Dwayne Johnson and Warner Bros. have not yet responded to Uwe Boll’s tactics yet, but you can take a look at his series of tweets below, including one where he proclaims that he’s “un-retiring” from filmmaking, and visit his official website UweBollRaw.com for more information.

Uwe Boll plans to sue Warner Bros for stealing his RAMPAGE series title without permission. What should @wbpictures rename the film if Boll wins his upcoming litigation? They should let us choose unless they want to settle

Like 80 percent of the people who are eager to lash out at me online are wannabe filmmakers. Not professionals, just egoists. Newsflash: you will never make it, so guess who gets the last laugh. Working at Burger King will give you more time to pretend you’re kind of a big deal.
— Uwe Boll (@UweBollRaw) March 24, 2018
but now if I want to make Rampage 4 Life: The Next Generation people think “where’s the ape? where the rock?” – I make Warners a deal. Settle and give me The Rock as Brock Williamson, Bill’s grown son in Rampage 4 Life, and you can use my films title. My bargaining chip

Audience sit down, buy a ticket. They excited to see Bill Williamson go gonzo- movie title fade in, RAMPAGE- suddenly a gorilla takes a dump, an alligator & wolf fight over who gets to sniff it, & The Rock’s smell-the-fart acting. Then nobody see my RAMPAGE movies again. #UweBoll
